BASIC/DEPT® 2026Creative direction and visual branding for Taco Bell Encore Hours. Our goal was to help elevate Taco Bell’s night bites into the spot for late-night eaters with a tight design system and toolkit.

Most late-night bites include the moon, neon signs, and stars. Instead of falling into the abyss of sameness, our answer; imperfect photo ops, noise textures, imperfect event stamps, and scattered glimmers. Together, these elements create a bold, moody, and energetic visual identity for Encore Hours. That shift from daytime Taco Bell to “Night Mode”.

At the start of the sprint, we were asked to create a fresh logo in addition to expanding their visual system. After internal discussion, they decided a new logo would create confusion with their established mark, and so the branding ask was removed from their brief. Here are a few logo explorations.
